If you wanna lose weight, eat right.
If you wanna get in shape, exercise.
After 5 babies and bouncing back and forth 9 sizes, after countless diet and exercise fads over the years, I've learned something IF YOU WANNA LOSE WEIGHT, EAT RIGHT. IF YOU WANNA GET IN SHAPE, EXERCISE. Calories in, calories out doesn't necessarily work. The type of calories you eat, matters. How often you move your body, matters. I lost a lot of weight after my 5th child was born, when I started running I gained 10 lbs! I decided it was time to do both, eat right and exercise so I can go up the steps without huffing and puffing and pull my kids in the wagon without feeling like I did after track practice in high school.
I began my health nut phase in life 12 years ago when I started running. Since then, I have completed 3 marathons, 11 half marathons, 4 10K's and countless 5K's. I sign up for races for motivation. My nutrition has been so much cleaner since I've started exercising. I can't eat pizza and drink pop and expect not to cramp while I run! I never knew I could feel so good until I started feeling GOOD!
I hope to write on some simple things I have learned to share that may help others. Raising healthy kids is a challenge also. My husband is a runner too. What we are seeing now, is that if healthy food is there kids will eat it and a few of my teens are starting to exercise on their own. Your example is contagious. Also, I've learned how to combine my faith with honoring my body. How else could I made it through the marathons without a gazillion Hail Marys!?
Combining prayer and exercise will strengthen your muscles AND your soul. We Catholics like the term 'offer it up'. Offer your sufferings up for others who can't (see headband above).
Too many people neglect their health. Do you?
How is it serving others if you neglect your own health?
Are you grouchy because you don't like what you've become?
How are you able to be the best version of yourself if you are tired and don't feel good?
How do you treat your body a temple of the Holy Spirit God gave you?
Do you honor the gift of life God gave you with junk food and idleness?
How do you spend your time? Are you too busy to exercise? Are you too busy to plan your meals?
How can you be the person God physically created you to be and feel truly alive?
If I can be of help to you, please comment below.
In the words of Venerable Fulton J Sheen..."GOD LOVE YOU"!
